Take the wacky charms of Lucille Ball, mix it with the elegant silent comedy of Charlie Chaplin and sprinkle world class juggling skills woven into a love story and you get Lindsay Benner’s “The Book of Love”.
After first moving to Los Angeles in 2007, Lindsay wanted to create a silent clown show to perform at Cabarets. In 2008 she came up with the first three chapters of “The Book of Love” and began performing it at Burlesque shows. Max Maven saw Lindsay in one of these shows and in 2009 she appeared in the Palace Theater at the Magic Castle for the first time. She has made many appearances since and “Book of Love” has become a favorite act at the castle.
In 2011, Lindsay premiered all 7 chapters in the hour long silent vaudeville show at The Ashby Stage in Oakland presented by The Shotgun Players. She then took “The Book of Love” and showcased it to the College entertainment market across the US and in 2013, after two successful touring seasons, Lindsay won “Variety Artist of the year” from the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) and then “Juggler of the Year” in 2014, a rare honor for a solo woman in that field.
In August 2015 Lindsay raised enough money on Kickstarter to take “Book of Love” to the world renown Edinburgh Fringe Festival and earned 5 out of 5 stars from Broadway Baby. Inspired by classic vaudeville and golden-era comedy, The Book of Love is truly unique and entertaining and unlike any show out there.
The Book of Love can be up to an hour long or as short as 7 minutes. If you would like to have “Book of Love” at your next event please contact Lindsay in the message section of this website.
